Why do humans have so many more diseases than animals?
Anonymous at Mon, 24 Jun 2024 08:33:52 UTC No. 16250516
we're a high population social species meaning infectious diseases can spread and evolve with us easily.
It's the same reason bats are riddled with diseases.
it doesn't help that during the last few thousand years or so large portions of us lived in crowded cities with little to no sewage systems.

We don't. And we lack any extremely severe ones. Consider that chickens have bird flu, rabbits have myxomatosis, pigs have ASF, all mean a virtual extermination of the entire population. We are remarkably resilient to disease.

because humans have governments that continue integrating other "humans" from disease-filled shitholes with populations on the opposite side of the planet where immunity to exotic diseases you only get from fucking bonobos doesn't exist.

because humans, unlike other creatures, have created an environment where the diseased can carry on life mostly as usual rather than the natural norm of quickly dying.

Too complex, less complex creatures can even survive doses of radiation that would be lethal for humans, or simply rejuvenate themselves eternally like some jellyfish
