Scientifically speaking, is it possible for a rocky planet similar Mars to be habitable if it had Earth-like temperature without necessarily having water present?

a planet with blue sand or rocks would be a sight to behold

This was the closest you could get but they also took it away from you

technically if you lived on pods, recycled the water you brought and stuff like that but Mars is a masculine as fuck planet and all the hot femboys would probably lived on Venus. Those would be terrible living conditions

is there photosynthesis on this planet of yours? Is there free oxygen in the air and if so how did it get there?

>>16261341
yea but only if you bring water

can oxygen exist naturally on a planet without plants?

So a desert planet like Dune or tatooine?
Temperature is less of issue than creating a breathable atmosphere.

Yes, because the Great Oxidation Event on earth was caused by photosynthetic microbes, like cyanobacteria, before there were any plants technically.

we can't even terraform the Mojave desert, how are we going to inhabit a frozen dusty ass planet?

Mars has black sand in places and black is a kind of blue.

Abiotic oxygen atmospheres could exist, if water vapour gets photolyzed by intense UV, under certain atmospheric conditions, and the hydrogen lost to space. Wear sunscreen.

I can't see any way to get oxygen - biologically or otherwise - without water present.

It would be habitable, but we'd need to bring all the water with us which would inhibit colonization significantly.

Who says we can't terraform the Mojave desert?
Has anyone with substantial money and resources tried doing that?

Terraforming the Mohave desert almost makes me wish for a nuclear winter

Why haul a ton of water with you? Make it from oxygen and hydrogen and then recycle it as best you can.

No water usually means no hydrogen. The moon is an example of this.
