As a physics student, I just failed linear algebra for the second year in a row
I somehow got a B in calculus and physics though
I hate this university more than you can imagine
I'm already 2 years behind because of linear algebra
the professor is a 65 year old shitter
I keep telling myself that studying for a year or two longer isn't a problem, and that I'm going to miss it after it's done
The only alternative that seems interesting is pilot school, but I'd hate to be home once a month in the future

Two years in a row? How tough is your schedule? Can you spend all summer pre-studying linear algebra? I would recommend sticking with your current degree and really going all out trying to learn this topic. Also see some of the test prep checklists floating around out there.

same here but physics 1 lol
i have some serious procrastinating issues
i think i have it in control but everything gets out of hand
anyways you have to study yourself thru books and online lectures
do previous exams from your university, since you have them already

> Boo hoo despite the fact that 80 people out of 100 passed the test it's still not my fault it's always the professor's fault. He is soo strict

I can and I will
The problem is that during the year, the questions are easier as some can be solved step by step
But on the exams, the professor writes all the questions and if you don't write everything exactly as he does, he gives you 0
Other students study for months and barely pass
His approach is way different than on the physics part of our uni
He's a deaf boomer with a fragile ego that thinks all physicists are idiots and he always trolls us
the big problem is that algebra is one of the prerequsites for classical mechanics
so because of linear algebra 2, i couldn't study classical mechanics 1 and 2 this year
now i won't be able to do it again
and classical mechanics is a prerequisite for quantumn physics
you see why this sucks dick?

yeah that's my biggest problem, i usually study like 5 hours for an exam and i pass if the professors are reasonable

How can anyone fail linear algebra twice? If you think that's tough fuck knows what you'll do when you get to electromagnetism.

So clearly you must learn how to do this exactly. I've had a similar professor before and I even wrote proofs and brought them to his office hours for what I was doing, but sometimes it just doesn't matter. Learn what he wants even if it is not the only computationally correct way of doing things. Swallow your pride. It sounds like you do not even need to study the content much.
>yeah that's my biggest problem, i usually study like 5 hours for an exam and i pass if the professors are reasonable
You study like five hours right before or generally? I tend to study for exams a lot more than five hours in total. Albeit, I do not cram at all, I just work well in advance over time. There are usually some fun weird edge cases professors put on exams and I want to learn how to do.

two questions:
if that's actually true why not report him? that should break the university's grading guidelines.
how come everyone else can pass his exam but not you?

I somehow just don't get it, he always creates new convoluted questions that always troll you if you don't know EXACTLY what he wants
I hate it because it's obvious he's just being a prick
I studied calculus 3 for a day, he asked me about bessel functions and said it's fine
the written part is also much easier as the problems kind of repeat through the years and they always give you points if you at least started the problem
I have 3 more tries for algebra, one in a week, and two after summer
I have a bad feeling about those
>>16262845
he has complete authority, many tried reporting him the past
he actually lost one of my problems on the first exam, i didn't write anything special but still what the fuck
then he acused me of lying and said that never happened to him before
im waiting in front of his office right now, maybe he gives me the right to go to the talking exam tomorrow

now that i think about, cant you just pick a different professor or he checks the exams of all classes by himself?

We don't tend to do these where I am from for math. Are you from a non-English speaking country? Are there decent self-study resources in your language?

yeah there's a script he wrote, but it's in his own kind of langauge (very hard read)
he just told me that the exams are hard because he doesn't like the fact that he has to wrote them and that i should begin studying immediately (the exam is in a week), he also said he wants all the definitions and proofs on the blackboard just for a pass
i only needed 2 points now and he refused, even though i had the same problem last year
ill probably be reading that script the entire summer

Linear algebra is easy as shit. Just grind through shilov. Can't do that? Then don't become a physicist. We don't need any more brainlets slowing down research

boo fucking hoo faggot, it's linear algebra. What's the hardest shit he could put on an exam? Some tensor shit? Rep theory? Come on
