๐Ÿงต Effective studying

Anonymous No. 16265536

I'm going to go insane if I cannot get some help or input relating to the following issue:
>I cannot bring myself to study after class no matter what I do.
It's like my brain and body do everything in their power to prevent me from sitting down and hitting the books.
Laziness? Bad life hygiene? Lack of clear objectives? Perfectionism? Too much sugar? All of the above? You tell me.

I undertook 3 summer courses (general chemistry, mechanics, and integral calculus) and I already had to give up chemistry because of all the memorization. Now I just gave up on mechanics because I don't do enough exercises at home (none) and just finished an exam relying on raw talent (non existent).

Scientifically, what should I do to get better at studying and what am I doing badly?

Honestly, the only solution to procrastination is to start working
Read "A Mind For Numbers", it was written by a humanities major who went back to college to get an EE degree, it'll teach you how to study
I went to a private school and was top of my class on the STEM subjects, but since the classes were so small and the teachers good, once I started college I got crushed by the guys from poorer backgrounds who were used to grinding hours of studying, while I had no idea of how to study

Do heavy exercising until you're tired earlier in the day, it makes it easier to sit around and do mind heavy work when your body is tired

All anons in the replies are coping hard. There is a high chance you have deficits in executive function, which cannot be fixed by "getting off your ass" or reading shitty pop-sci books about learning.

Maybe all this stuff just isnt for you. If you lack the intrinsic motivation to perform, you need to find something that you actually like doing, or requires minimal investment

This. Motivation is the problem. You have to get yourself motivated. One example I heard of was a guy putting his house amortization table on his bed. That is every payment required to pay off the mortgage.
You first find what motivates you and then snort that shit every day when you first wake up and before you go to sleep.
