🧵 Schrödingers Cat

I thought Schrödingers cat proved the absurdity of Quantum Mechanics, and its mathematical applications.
“The cat is etheir alive or dead until you open the box”
Well no shit Sherlock.
But then they use pseudo logic and ask
Well, “if a tree fell in the woods and no one is there to see it fall? does it actually fall?”
Yes you dumb fuck from the observers perspective, he cannot see something he doesn’t observe.
But from a physics perspective the tree is going to fall whether an observer is present or not because of gravity.
Is it just gonna fucking float away into sub space?
God I hate people sometimes.

Even as a kid I could tell quantum physics was all bullshit.

>I thought Schrödingers cat proved the absurdity of Quantum Mechanics, and its mathematical applications.
It proves the absurdity of a particular view of quantum mechanics that is now long obsolete, and which scientists identified as very doubtful from the moment it was proposed (hence Schrödingers Cat).

Are you high? QM was always about measuring some unobservable phenomena or a hidden variable. This is why there’s many interpretations yet no one can be able to actually explain.
The math in QM is just a fancy version of statistical theory.

you cannot prove it without an observer, dummy, that's the paradox

This means you've already measured the system and observed gravity.

gravity exists according to who? That's right, an observer. He may not see the tree being chopped but since by your assertion gravity exists, he knows a priori it's existence and any consequences. Therefore you're wrong.
Let me give you a simpler example.
Imagine a box with mirrors on all sides. Imagine a torch inside that box flashed briefly but probabilistically, thus emitting photons as a Poisson process. Now would you be able to know whether the photons are bouncing in the mirror box, without opening it?

Here we go again with word salads and ideas. Gravity is a concept to help humans describe the pulling of objects to the earth. But gravity exists regardless of any life. Rocks from outer space would still crash on the earth wether living species exist or not.

Not even what it says dumbass, apart from the fact it was just a rolleyes joke by Schrodinger that's been blown out of proportion by popularizers.

It doesn't prove anything. It was a bad thought experiment meant to fling shit at the COPEnhagen interpretation. Schrödinger forgot though that this only works in the quantum realm, not with macroscopic objects. The cat obviously "observes" itself.

anon, nobody knows your point.
This was a philosophical thought experiment meant to prove the absurdity of the Copenhagen interpretation of QM. Everyone has their interpretation of what's going on but its not like the Math changes between the different perspectives
Anonymous at Fri, 5 Jul 2024 00:43:30 UTC No. 16268287
the theoretical experiment is entirely misunderstood. it's simply an example. nobody is putting a cat in a box and shooting it with x rays and then wondering if it's dead or not.
the whole point is about how conscious observation exerts a force of its own, not gravity, not light, not electromagnetism, but consciousness itself being a tangible force of nature.
life is more than physics and chemistry.

We already went over this in another thread faggot boy.
The linguistics of the word observation is to watch, to observe is to watch
In physics to observe, is to watch and measure using mathematics. When you measure you observing a change like speed, distance, time, etc.

I think you're the only one coping here anon. Very few people believe the Copenhagen interpretation nowadays. If your entire deal is you believe the quantum wave function is epistemic rather than ontological in nature then you are simply going to have to deal with the fact that some people have a separate view of reality and neither can be proven from the scientific framework because it is beyond observation.

QM is consistent with a majority of the data so why should we go out of our way to erase all that? If your argument was about string theory I would somewhat agree but QM is fine as is.

It's a thought experiment. It's not meant to prove anything except to show how unintuitive the quantum world is. The general idea is that measuring something changes the system, but we fundamentally don't know how it works.

you cannot prove that without an observer. As a matter of fact, you cannot prove anything whatsoever other than the observer's personal perception. But this is now a philosophical matter and we're off-topic.
