Just because your consciousness is linked to your body here on this planet, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't think about the universe.
After all, the universe is part of reality! It exists, it's physical, galaxies and planets are there somewhere; Things are happening.
Now we can either limit ourselves to think about other forms of life far away, or just ignore the possibility since it's extremely hard to find evidence of life other than here.

Yes. In fact, I fantasize about travelling to distant star systems regularly. None of us will ever get to see it in our lifetime, but I hope humanity thrives until all usable energy is depleted and spreads throughout the galaxy (or as much of it as we can feasibly venture out to). Maybe when I'm old and retired, we will get the first images of Proxima b.

I live across from the World of Coca-Cola in downtown Atlanta. I'm lucky if I can see Venus. When I look up, any stars I see usually turn out to be aircraft headed to the airport.
