๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ ๐Ÿงต How can intelligent people in STEM believe?

Anyone else get bothered when religious people into stem? Like, how the fuck can you be a rational empirical scientist but then abandon the scientific method when convienient to you?

>no real downsides in believing something
>all the (psychological) benefits
I wonder why, it's like most religion would make you a dysfunctional ascete that refuses to eat or work. The brain is a "BS machine" so complete coherence isn't priority in the slightest (see split brain research).

so you go to work and believe that things are demonstrated by the scientific method but turn this off randomly for the rest of your life? isnt that contradictory/hypocritical? and nonsensical

how can you know it wont interfere with their work? what if they have something come up in the lab that contradicts their religion?

>How can intelligent people in STEM believe?
they can't. religion in the modern world is just a larp. the only people who are genuinely religious in the 21st century are illiterate brown and black people.

Iโ€™m in STEM and I would be considered religious because I believe in god. Nothing wrong with religion. Newton was religious and created calculus discovered the laws of gravity and motion. Faraday was religious and discovered induction for electricity. Heโ€™s the reason we have modern electricity.

Stop being ignorant.

Religion means jack shit as far as performance.

As long as their research/works follows the scientific method the rest doesn't matter. The good part is its iterative critic, subdivision and being limited to specific issues, the personal-side is mostly meaningless in the long run.

It bothers me when atheists think they're intelligent.
>question things
this never happens
>don't accept assertions without evidence
definitely never happens
