I’m in STEM and I would be considered religious because I believe in god. Nothing wrong with religion. Newton was religious and created calculus discovered the laws of gravity and motion. Faraday was religious and discovered induction for electricity. He’s the reason we have modern electricity.

As long as their research/works follows the scientific method the rest doesn't matter. The good part is its iterative critic, subdivision and being limited to specific issues, the personal-side is mostly meaningless in the long run.
