Is humor and IQ correlated? Pic not related, he was a midwit.

Just need 5% more iq to your target audience and you are golden

I don't think so. I've know funny smart dudes and funny mediocre dudes.
To be fair, I've never met a person with mental retardation who was able to be deliberately funny, but I hardly think that counts.

Maybe.
A good part of humor is reading the air (muh anime), finding the correct continuation or combining things.
But imo most humor isn't even funny by itself, it's more about inducing a social "hysteria" and presenting the jokes in a fitting way.

Oh, and incidentally, I've never heard a funny joke in my life that wasn't "conservative" in theme, all the behaviors that make liberals cry and wet themselves: making fun of people or situations or institutions, pointing out how some folks are stupid and/or worthless, and so on. I add this because the left loves to claim that all comedians are supposedly leftists, but actual leftist "humor" is boring and entirely unfunny.

Greg Girando was funny at roasts, even I not agreeing with comedy by attacking people. His IQ was pretty high, I think.

Mozart literally made shit jokes, and wrote whole canons about shit, but only shared all this with friends and those he was comfortable with.

Higher intelligence is heavily correlated with having a decent sense of humor, since both evolved alongside eachother. Funnier men tend to be more attractive to the opposite sex too..... In general, Health + Humor + Intelligence + Attractiveness are correlated together.

Leftist humor was pretty funny during the Bush administration. Back then the right wing were inauthentic pearl-clutching moralists, so they were easy to mock. Now that the left is the establishment and their perspective has been institutionalized, their humor is boring and derivative.
Stewart Lee is remarkably clever, a great joke writer, while also being obnoxiously leftist. I haven't kept up with him, but he had a lot of good stuff in his standup and his show Comedy Vehicle.

I don’t know, but I know that the humor on Sopranos is infinitely funnier than any stand up comedian I’ve ever seen. The likes of Charles Barkley is funnier than any comedian following a script. Real life situations and things people you know say are funnier than any guy on stage with a microphone.
Something I observed is that low IQs usually find fat people falling tier humor to be hilarious, another thing they love are the “canned replies” you often see on reddit, on any comment section, and even here. Or the extremely predictable use of it for example:
>Guy in a video talks about how he thinks “canned joke X” is not funny and overused
>Comment section is, of course, spamming “canned joke X”
They think just *repeating* it makes it funny, I think that maybe most people don’t get what makes humor funny at all and are just pretending.

The preceding comment was already direction brained, so naturally I responded in terms they would understand. Humor is less a function of politics and more about clever subversion of expectations. When you're making jokes from the establishment perspective then it's expected and not funny, regardless of which team you're on.

I think so, humor is how intellect is propagated in the gene pool and that's why it's considered attractive
Anonymous at Thu, 11 Jul 2024 03:23:53 UTC No. 16276860
yes, it is.
You need to be smart and confident to be funny. Funny people are "against the system" type people. Even if you are some village guy, you can still become funny by delivering in different tone. But deciding which tone is perfect for the comedy takes intelligence.
You need to have high observations skills to be funny, which is a sign of smart people.
