Panspermia is the preferred scientific belief because then they don't have to deal with a limited abiogenisis. Instead of life being narrowed down to every day confines, they can speculate on any manner of life including high-tech varieties which create DNA. These being the most preferable theory of panspermia as our existence is fundamentally decouples from the other life-form and yields mysteries that will never be resolved.
