๐Ÿงต Lives of celibate scientists and mathematicians

Anonymous No. 16288856

Are there any scientists or mathematicians who lived a life of solitude and celibacy? I want to learn about them. I am a loser when it comes to social interactions, especially when it comes to women, so I'm thinking on just giving up on all that and dedicate my life to the study of math. But before I decide if that's what I want, I want to read about the lives of men who did that, I would especially like to know if they had any regrets at the end of their lives.

Consider that you might have autism (unironically)

I really don't think so. I think I was just sheltered too much as a child, never got to hang out with neighborhood kids and that made it so that I never developed crucial social skills and an amicable personality. Now it's too late for all that, I don't even want to go outside, I just want to stay inside reading and watching videos.

I am not particularly bright but I do in fact have a math degree, primarily becuase I enjoy the subject for its own sake, never cared about practical applications or employability, beyond the vague idea that having a math degree from an okay school is proof of baseline general intelligence. I live alone and occasionally (re-)read small math papers and books. I enjoy the history of math as a subject, and I have several books along those lines. Lately I've been reading more classical fiction and a little Shakespeare as a way to connect with mom (we saw a performance recently).

also IIRC the the guy in the OP introduced two-column accounting.

OP, you should read "The Man Who Loved Only Numbers", about Paul Erdos. I haven't read it but he's exactly the sort of person you have in mind, or close enough. But he knew to keep busy and socialize with others. In fact, in terms of being a co-author, that's how he was a "slut", that's how he was "promiscuous".

Everything is autism. Hence, autism is meaningless
>>16288928
You're not supposed to answer a rhetorical question. Anon doesn't ask if you have a diagnosis of autism. He's simply communicating his disapproval of your question by saying that you must have autism because autism, in his mind, means that you do things that are socially unacceptable.

Clearly not the same. Opinion discarded.

Stop misappropriating psychiatric concepts to communicate your disapproval.
We know, autism is a bullshit invention with no actual scientific back-up, specifically meant to demean people for being unconventional. That's why we put them on a spectrum together with brain-damaged vegetable cases.

I only say that because I'm self a self diagnosed aspie after actually learning what it is (and it being suggested by psychiatrists). I also didn't think I was autistic before, but learning about it has been really helpful and reassuring. That's why I suggest you look into it yourself.
> Everything is autism
This is a baseless claim without any evidence.

I know it tends to be used as an insult on 4chan but I wasn't using it as an insult. In fact, I think being autistic is great.

Your first statement was that everything is autism. Clarify?

True but the poster you replied to claims he is autism. Why not give him a length of rope to prove it?

Why should I be thinking about science all day whenever I can fuck a bitch or watch some porn? What if I had the best idea ever and I see a hot slut and then forget about it the moment she gets on her knees?

Oppenheimer was a chad and fucked multiple women even wives of his colleagues.

Einstein fucked many women.

Feynman fucked a lot.

Chad Sex Having scientists made America great. So don't become a celibate one.

Cool, but realistically OP isn't going to have Chad sex. The most he could hope for is to creep out some women, waste a ton of time, and maybe get socially ostracized.

As for whether OP will have regrets at the end of his life, that's difficult to say. I'm celibate now, but I've had sex before. I sometimes think it would be cool if I had not wasted any time on sex, but perhaps it was worth something.

If you're feeling really bothered by your lack of sex, just remind yourself that if you ever did have sex, it would probably be completely unsatisfying, and not live up to any of your expectations.

Imagine a fat guy trying to diet, and his brain is constantly whispering at him, telling him that it's going to feel sooo amazing and sooo satisfying if he cheats on his diet just a little. So he cheats on his diet. How does he feel afterwards: great, or terrible?

You only have so many hours in your life. Every time you choose to do something, you're choosing not to do all the other things you could have done with that time. If you chase women, you're not working on science, and you just need to ignore your penis whispering negative thoughts at you.

Then again maybe you really will regret never fucking when you get older.

At the very least, go try to do some platonic socializing a bit more. Science and math don't happen in a one-man vacuum, you know.

To be happy you must live in agreement with your nature. The whole and sole perk of being a male is that nobody will care about you. Whereas the sole perk of being a vagina is that all the men will be desperate to talk to you and give you free stuff spontaneously. The male nature is to be forever alone. On the female side, it is not all rosy, women hate to have a flock of ugly orbiters, and they hate it even more when there is physical contact with those. In other words women hate that too much men care about them. So everybody is unhappy, especially the men. Thanks to a twist, women are actually happy because, doing it for free, the chad orbiters will beat up the ugly orbiters for the sake of the women.
So to be happy as a male you must rejoyce in being a loser. This is the only truth in the universe.
