I know, but when you DO play, how do you maximize the chance of say doubling your money?
If you put everything in 1 go on black, you have 48.6% of doubling it.
Is there a mathematical way to increase these odds, or is it the best you can do?

>roulette
A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Why? If you put 250$ and happen to double it twice in a row and quit you obviously won 750$
If you take a limit going to infinity you will always lose, but in the real world you don't play infinitely, so you can win even with a little bit unfavorable odds

Yea I really don't think there's anything more to it than this. Each roll has the same odds, your best bet is to go for red or black each time, odds are always in the house's favour. Though I imagine if you have say 10 rolls, you'd expect 4-6 black and 4-6 red outcomes so in terms of repeat rolls you'd want to balance your choices

>happen to double it
Random events are by no mean optimal strategies.
>so you can win even with a little bit unfavorable odds
If you define "optimal" as winning even a $1 more, sure.

Become good friends with the croupier at your local casino
Convince him to partake in a little trolling
He puts a small magnet under one of the numbers you agreed on earlier in private.
Probability of the metal ball landing on or adjadent to your secret number increases
Aaaaand that's it. You now have an advantage over the house. Only you know how the probability distribution of hitting each number changed and can now use it to your advantage.
Just make sure to not draw attention, not too strong of a magnet, change number from time to time and make sure to occasionally make a bad bet on purpose (betting on numbers located on the wheel that are at the opposite site of the magnet)
Repeat for infinite money glitch
Split earnings

Mathematically, the best non-cucked way to win is just go all in on a color with a large amount of money and only best ONCE. If you only play with small amounts, there are methods to ensure you take home a net positive amount the vast majority of the time, albeit, you will lose quite a lot relative to what you put in those few times you are down.

Best stratetegy is to change your game to poker, the only casino game in which you play against other people, and therefore have chance to be better and make profit.
