Is it worth it as a theory of consciousness?

>cringe AI image with binary code
When will you learn that a machine, no matter how complex, can never be sentient? Even the most simple animal has more of a soul than the most sophisticated AI.
Learn to not be foolish.

I worked in Tononi's lab for 1 year. Avoid like the plague, guy is kind of an asshole to his own workers. I have the utmost respect for the people in that shitty work environment , they do all the real work behind IOT

Even the least sophisticated AI has more soul than a human NPC.

It's bullshit. The fact that integrated information exists is trivial basic information theory and wasn't invented by Tononi. However, it has no value in explaining consciousness. He just refuses to address the hard problem. In the end IIT is just numerology mysticism / cargo cult science: "We can write down some pseudomath not applicable to any relevant use case, and this somehow represents consciousness but we have no idea how."

i think its trivial that consciousness can be described as itegrated information
but i doubt IIT is true as a formal theory
