Why has nothing happened in physics since the 1940s?

Quantum electrodynamics was only resolved in the '50s, and theories on the weak and strong nuclear interactions were completed in the '70s. But fundamental physics has been largely stagnant for the past half-century.

Pretty easy, you just turn on your incandescent bulb instead of a cheaper led, look at your expensive inaccurate mechanical watch to tell the time, use a ruler instead of a laser pointer when teaching, and use an x-ray instead of an MRI machine when you need to go to the hospital

The best physicists were always philosophers who sought out math to explain philosophy. Now we have losers not only devoid of philosophy but actively anti-philosophy. They've created a bastardized hollowed out science sans philosophy. Like a zombie body without a soul, it walks, and eats, and shits, but it's not alive.

The happenings did not come about by spending a lifetime of pleasing others to fund experiments and test the most minutely detailed hypotheses generated by a hive mind of peers who value the status quo more than any creative insight which ultimately comes from God knows where and modern humans have lost connection to that creative place as evidenced by current music, movies and such horrors of modernity.

Some has happened, the quark model has evolved a lot since the times of Heisenberg and can explain many experiments. I guess thats about it.
Small computer chip doesnt seem like such a big feat of physics, it was predestined since the invention of the transistor

Fiber optics are borderline trivial, you can make them with plastic tubes, they dont have any new physics anyway.
QCD is ok, i dont know anything about superconductors to know if these were developed by trial and error or if theres some physical theory for those

>But fundamental physics has been largely stagnant for the past half-century.
2nd law of thermodynamics addended with fluctuation theorem, experimental measurement of top, bottom, and charmed quarks and the W, Z and Higgs bosons, experimental measurement of neutrino oscillations, experimental measurement of gravitational waves and the discovery of a gravitational background all come to mind.

> Lasers
Electrical engineering, not physics.
> Fiber optics/optical communications
Also EE.
> QED and QCD.
Properly physics but are maybe not good examples of what you are trying to show. QED started in the 1920's with Dirac and hasn't substantially improved since the 1970's. Definitely newer than the 40's but still very much a field where we learned a lot but have hit many seemingly impenetrable walls. QCD does seem interesting and seems to have some cool problems still left to solve. We'll see what the future holds.
> High temperature superconductors.
Almost entirely EE and materials science. Very few proper theoretical physicists are spending time on this field.
I dislike when physicists take the credit for work done by engineers and empirical scientists. It would be like if mathematicians claimed Lagrangian dynamics because calculus is involved.

You know that Lagrange worked as a mathematics professor rather than a physics professor and also did mathematical work completely unrelated to physics?
