Since Art has now been recognized as the final piece of STEM hegemony, will artwork threads be allowed on sci now?

I hope so. Artlessness in STEM is replaceable by AI.

Wanting funding has nothing to do with STEM. All of the parts of STEM are connected, art is now just sitting there on its own contributing nothing as usual. If you want pretty pictures you can take them and nothing's stopping you, but that doesn't mean that taping a banana to a wall has anything to do with those other fields.

not so much the money laundering scheme known as art but the act of human expression, ie: beauty, good design, perfection of the most perfect rock climb or whatever, a tv show which piqued many peoples interest in STEM

How is taping a banana to a wall art?

That's all well and good but again art as a field has nothing to do with math, engineering, science, or technology. Beauty is good and where possible designs should take it into account, but the task of an engineer is to make something that works and make it work as efficiently as possible. Someone can come in later and make a pretty shell, but that is not what the engineer is being paid to do. The task of a scientist is to research, to discover, and to test hypotheses. If the scientist believes that it will get more funding they can add a camera to take pictures while gathering other data, but that is not the fundamental task of the scientist. The task of a mathematician is to prove or disprove logical statements. Making an elegant proof or putting it in a nice graph with a pleasing color scheme can make it more understandable and is admirable as a goal in addition to their underlying one, but it is again not the principle task. The purpose of technology is to make things easier for humans. Doing it while looking pleasing is nice, but once again is not why the technology was created. All of the topics of STEM involve each other, but art is just a nice extra step.

A spade doesn't need to be decorated nicely to make it easier to dig things. A nicely made spade might be better than a crudely crafted one, but that is not fundamental to the idea of a spade.

Someone lying for prestige and then having his credentials taken when it was found is not the same as someone selling a banana taped to a wall for millions of dollars because all standards have been removed from art. If anything, that shows that while real peer review is becoming less common and science is degrading, it still has more real standards than art.

You can't forge a spade without art.

>>16300970
The difference is that one of those is rightfully treated as a disgrace while the other was sold to for millions of dollars to someone who knew what they were buying as art has lost all standards. The fact that people lie has nothing to do with the fact that art has no standards and that useless bullshit like spraying a canvas with random paint is treated as something amazing. You can stretch the definition of art as much as you want but the harder you stretch the less it means anything, the less it is useful as a category, and so the less reason you have to put it in STEM.

Who bought the banana? Joachim sold science to Elsevier for millions of dollars divorced of standards.
>art has no standards
It doesn't. Neither does science.

Sounds like ergodics. What's the difference again?

They clearly did have standards, once it was shown that the results were not as promised they stopped. Again, being decieved is not the same as having no standards for what you get. That is absolutely not what ergodics is and you just said that to sound smart. I'm not goingbto continue this because you just want to feel better about yourself for being included in the STEM category which you built up in your head as something important. Unfortunately, your inclusion in it is the end of its importance so you still have not actually done anything with your life.

Ergodics is nothing more or less than "spraying a canvas with random paint," as you put it. If there were a real difference, you could simply describe it instead of describing your artistic impression of my life.

Most people that allegedly work in "science" cannot even explain or understand what science and the scientific method is, let alone applying it.
Most people who work in "science" are nothing but furniture who memorized protocols, without any deep understanding or questions of the protocols and their outcomes.
The are lab monkeys. Slaves with high IQ but low enough IQ to not see that they do esotheric memes in petridishes and irreproducible crap.
I talked to people who work in science who think that a "unfalsifyable hypthesis" is actually the best hypothesis.
Even when explaining to them, what unfalsifyable means, they zone out.
Science has been a meme since the abandonment of the scientific method.

Actually no. I'm just not interested in discussing the philosophy of science with an undergraduate, so rather than tell him to FO I just pretend to be uninterested.
