Good news everyone, glaciers in Greenland are growing. I'm sure all of the concerned environmentalists on this board will be ecstatic to see that glaciers in Greenland are growing.

glaciers suck, they are inhospitable to humans and claim many lives every year.

Yes, it would be good news if Petermann Glacier grew, but even more so if it kept growing, since it has been shrinking since 2002 (many sources on that).

As we can see from this map of glacial retreat hosted on NOAA, the retreat of glaciers is highly variable. Due to this variance, the appearance of catastrophic melting is seen in some years, while the total opposite happens the next.

Tropics are of lesser concern for man-made climate change than the arctic for a fairly simple reason. The tropics are exposed to more direct sunlight throughout the year. The sun hasnโt changed in solar output much in hundreds of thousands of years. Thereโs actually very little variation. The problem is that when the sun goes down and the heat is escaping back into space, some of that heat is getting trapped by Co2 on its way out leaving it to be slightly hotter in the morning when the sun rises again which means tomorrow is slightly hotter than it should have been with all that extra CO2 in the air. This is confirmed when we study modern climate change that nights are growing hotter faster than days:
https://www.climatecentral.org/clim
A clear indication that itโs not the sun thatโs responsible for the increased warming, but greenhouse gases.
Likewise, the tropics, being in direct sunlight all year long, are pretty much going to be the same temperature. Of course, theyโll go up in temperature a little bit, but not compared to the arctic, which has the same problem that it canโt lose heat like it did before the Industrial Revolution because of increased CO2. Another indicator of man made climate change:
https://www.nature.com/articles/s43
Which is absolutely devastating to species that rely on snow and ice to live, including humans, who use things like glacial meltwater to, you know, drink and grow crops or who rely on snow melt to manage their rivers and lakes instead of getting all their water in one rainy season which floods their dams then doesnโt have nearly as much the rest of the year.
So no. The greening of the Amazon isnโt so cool compared to the sheer ass fuckery weโre receiving just so a few oil billionaires can buy another megayacht

The glaciers have ALL been shrinking since the end of the last ice age, thousands of years ago. You hide all the earlier data and pretend it's because of lawnmowers to get yourselves more money and power.
At the very least, you should be forced to live the life you claim to support: no electricity, no food from modern agriculture, no home other than a tiny shitty soviet-style apartment you share with ten other sรถyfags, no heat in the winter, no cooling in the summer, no automobile transportation of any kind, no modern medicine.
Forcing you to not be hypocrites and live the life you are trying to impose on everyone else would end your dopey psychopathic cult in a couple of weeks.

I'm confused. It has been growing steadily since 2012.
Growing is the opposite of shrinking. They are antonyms. Are you using different words than the rest of us?
So suppose I made a prediction that the earth is getting steadily hotter, and I said that one way to tell would be that the Petermann Glacier was shrinking, but then it instead grew even though the temperatures were supposedly still getting hotter.
What would a RATIONAL person conclude about my theory? Should that person be silenced or thrown in prison or something? Or should the obviously falsified theory be discarded?

Because you're literally cherrypicking your data. I'll give you an example. In Alaska USA about 3000 glaciers are shrinking. About 5 glaciers are growing. This is because some changers in weather patterns cause a tiny handful of glaciers to get more snow and therefore grow. It does not, at all, change the fact that climate change is causing glaciers to melt as is evidenced by the 3000 which are shrinking.

I can't imagine why people who claim to be worried about global warming would be so upset by seeing that glaciers are growing

The Petermann Glacier has been growing consistently for ever a decade, so have many other glaciers all over the world. Isn't that great news? All of the people who are so concerned about glaciers disappearing are doubtlessly happy to see that so many glaciers are consistently growing

Can anyone explain to me why good news about the environment makes environmentalists so angry?

What about just, you know, normal summers? Every summer is either blazingly hot or anomalously cold now, with leaning towards blazing hot.
We shouldn't even be talking about this, but 110 degree summers are just every year now, or somewhere gets 60 degree max summers. These are events that should be happening once every few decades, not every year.

atmospheric co2 concentrations keep on rising at the same rate they always have and it makes no difference to the glaciers, they just keep on growing anyway.

The elite are preparing for catastrophic global cooling under the pretense of clamping down on supposed causes of warming. When it happens they'll migrate to equatorial regions, leaving the sheeple to freeze to death.

>Jakobshavn's growth did not come as a surprise to scientists. A recent study team from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, determined that water transported to the area around the glacier by a key ocean current has been colder than it was prior to 2016, when the growth began. The colder water is not melting the ice from the front and underneath the glacier as quickly as the warmer water did.
>The temperature change of the current's water is part of a known climate pattern, one that is expected to flip again, and cause more of the melting and ice thinning for which Jakobshavn is known. Although the melting rate has slowed, the glacier continues to contribute to sea level rise, ultimately losing more ice to the ocean than it gains from snow accumulation overall.

Non sequitor. Ice forms on the walls of your freezer. That does not mean that your freezer is getting cooler.

You're trying to distract from the fact that you haven't told me in what way this is good news. Ice growing does not equate to colder temperatures and even if it did colder temperatures in one place is not evidence of any global change. Do you have some evidence for your claims, or can you explain some other way that this is a good thing?

Obviously not. The difference is that warmer temperatures are observed globally. You're trying to deflect. How is this glacier growing good news?

>where I'm at its currently the coldest summer so far this century
Non-sequitur. One place being colder is not evidence of a global trend. We've already covered this.
