I need to learn calculus for college. I have zero math skills outside of barely paying attention to math I learned in high school 7 years ago. wat do? Can one of you help a nigga out?

niggers usually can't learn math. do something else instead. become a chef or something

So you're gonna need to learn algebra. Start with pre-calc, which is just most of the algebra/trig fundamentals you need to succeed in calculus 1. Once you get a good foundation in algebra, calculus 1 won't be that bad at all.
The problem is if you need to do calculus 2, it's going to kick your ass if you aren't good at trig and calc 1.
imo, your best bet is just to start taking the math classes at your community college at the level you need. If you've retained some algebra and trig you might be able to start at the calc 1 level and fill in the gaps as you go.

lim_{x->a} f(x) = L === for all epsilon > 0 there exists delta > 0 such that for all x in (a-delta, a+delta)\{a} we have |f(x) - L| < epsilon
Hope I've helped.

I actually started to do math after a long time off like you. I believe the gap was identical actually. I started off with an algebra 2 refresher, then refreshed trigonometry and some very basic statistics (you don't even need to do that last piece, I really just wanted to know terms), I then did the derivative calculus and like half of the integral calculus courses on Khan academy and went from there. I actually did all of the problems though, I did not simply watch videos.
I killed it coming into college with this as a basis. I was also doing some other things at the same time (not a 9-5 though), so I did this part time for like three months.

Lang has a book called Basic Mathematics that is supposedly everything you need to know for Calculus. You can try studying it (i.e. read it, work through examples, do problems at the end of sections). You could also just take pre-calculus, either through a college or one of those meme online sites.

Hello op, Garrote makes an interesting point:>>16304988
You need to be able to work with sentences that have 9 prepositional phrases, at least 4 of them nested, to understand calculus. You should be able to understand that visually and verbally, and be able to translate that to numerical and algebraic math. Although basic calculus is mostly rote memorization, there is no greater intellect-demanding field than math.

Just spend an extra year and re-learn all of Pre-Calculus. People don't have a problem with Calculus concepts, but remembering all the niche Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry subtopics.

He can follow my path or find some other way to go about it, but deciding to be a 25 year old freshman in college, especially if you are giving up decent pay, really should tell you that you absolutely have to kill it whereever you go as you are in such a disadvantageous position and a lot of professional doors will be closed.

It is, but even comp sci people usually have to take the calculus series, plus discreet math or whatever, do it is something to open the path to things that pay and is often the most difficult roadblock.

Calculus is easy, pre calculus is just a slog and a bitch to get through because everything is new but after that you’re golden. Speaking from experience I dropped out of high school and two years later taught myself all of gr 11 and 12 math in like a year while working pt. If you have the will then there is a way anon
