You can do that now, there are a few greenhouses dug into the ground that use radiant heating from the ground to maintain air temp. They are dug below the frost line, suck air through a radiating system of tubes under a field that heats the air to a temperature of 60 degrees which is then pumped into the green house. Heat from the winter day is then captured using the greenhouse like a magnifying glass to heat stores of water up which then radiates heat through the night keeping the inside of the greenhouse in tropical conditions. Solar panels are non recyclable and end up in landfills. They cover acres and acres of habitat and only produce electricity when the sun is shining so you also need expensive batteries which also end up as e-waste.

compared to jet engines. Compared to helicopters it's maybe 2x better. Once you take into account losses in the electricity generation and power conversion electronics, it ain't better.
