It's high-school level, about 500 pages.
It's not as soft as most grade-school texts, as in it gets to the point. It is not big on theory, and I think you don't want or need theory.
But anon, if you are perchance looking for a book that will magically make math interesting to you, I don't know what to tell you.
I hated math in school, but it is inherently interesting to me now. I like this book because I'm interested in the subject and its foundations. I don't know how it will be for you.

You could do much worse
Just get the pdf and print and bind it yourself if you can't afford it

I personally find books useful for self learning
You can take them anywhere and they don't hurt your eyes nor are full of distractions

Go to this video https://youtu.be/didXE0HkSC8, download the recommended "pre-algebra" and Elementary Algebra books recommended for free at https://libgen.is. After you finish those, you are good to read Basic Mathemstics by Lang.

I recommend trying free online math resources first.

You tube is also good for video format studying.

just buy a cheap tablet from aliexpress, download the free pdf. the reading experience is much superior than physical book. I recommend the lenovo xiaoxin pad, feel like apple with just $100-$200 price.

it depend on taste I guess but reading physical books made me myopic because I cannot zoom the small text and have to get my face closer.
I can also draw and take note on the tablet and make mistakes and write my own thoughts about certain equations without ruining the book itself.

Bro just go to Khan Academy. They have courses per area, like algebra or geometry, but the also conveniently have per grade. So if you want to start literally from zero you could start from grade 1, and nicely and steadily work your way up

Try JP Serre's "A Course in Arithmetic", that should take you to the very beginning.

I bought it on Amazon, then returned it and got lucky with a returnless refund, so I have the book plus my $40.

Sorry if this doesn’t help but i will try because i want to help.

have you thought about GCSE math textbooks, alongside GCSE math papers? GCSE is just a qualification taught to 13 year olds in England (and they complete it at 16 yrs old). The GCSE math course starts with multiplication, division etc. (so what you want, hopefully). I’ll include a link that specifies everything taught at GCSE maths, and you can go through it to see if it’s suited for you, link: https://qualifications.pearson.com/content/dam/pdf/GCSE/mathematics/2015/specification-and-sample-assesment/gcse-maths-2015-specification.pdf

You can accompany GCSE math textbooks with GCSE past exam papers (past papers are provided by examboards, the best being 'edexcel') and GCSE math revision videos.

TLMaths is a YouTube channel that teaches GCSE (and a-level) maths. He’s covered the entirety of alevel maths and is now covering gcse maths. here’s a playlist for reference:

Get back to me if you want me to go into more depth. Learning math at this level imo is the hardest - but because it’s taught universally to nearly everyone, it’s easiest to find resources for. And idk why this hasn’t been mentioned, it’s pretty obvious. But 4chan likes to skip over the obvious.

4chan isn’t the best place to ask for advice btw - especially with mathematics and learning. Try more specific forums.
