Why doesn't all of the gas in the atmosphere escape into space?
>Because gravity
Gas molecules on the surface of earth where gravity is the strongest can overcome it and go directly up (pic rel), so shouldn't this be even less pronounced in the upper atmosphere where gravity is weaker?

Gravity as a push force from dynamic ether particles would explain this. The Earth shields things on its surface from the ether particles on the other side, creating a net force downwards towards the Earth.

the net effect of all the relevant forces is generally to keep gasses confined around the earth baring some weird cases like helium. offgassing from the crust and the oceans replaces what's lost until it hits some equilibrium. the density of the atmosphere drops off rapidly as you ascend, there's not that much air available to be scoured off the top by the solar winds and other forces

Back in highschool they had an elementary problem calculating RMS speed of molecules. They are much less than escape velocity of earth

Nah, there's basically no difference between gravity at sea level and gravity at 30,000 feet up.

this. thats why helium tends to end up leaving the earth.
But this is really just another flat earth thread in disguise.

I would blame it on the water vapour. Literally we don't live in dry gas, but in water vapour, which has some viscosity.

since this shit is a constant feature of the many flat earth threads posted here, /x/ and /pol/ etc, what the retarded flat earthers need to understand is that heavy things dont just go up. air is heavy. how do they think it should just go into space?

they are indeed retarded.

One goes up, some comes down. Cosmic Le Sage Particless will meet them and push them down again. This is why gravity exist

Like, gravity exists because, you know...reality is just like sooo heavy maan. no wat im sayin'?

No, gravity exist because Isaac Newton invented it, people would be flying without such dumbfuck.
It was easier to invent gravity than setting every flying which on fire.
