>obsessed with Thomas Edison for whatever fucking reason.
he was a scumbag that made shit loads of money by being a scumbag. Americans idolize such practices.

I concur. The state of my country is a great travesty befalling the entirety of the species. Also damn Marconi and his soul to hell a million times over.

My only worry is the fact I'm not free to do, I have to pass through something due to distrust. 1. There's no reason to distrust. 2. I don't know via sense if this method of doing is acceptable.
It's definitely working at much less speed. I have an abstracted image. I would just say let me do.

How much do you think it would cost to switch from something that works and is in current circulation to something else that also works and isn't in current circulation for ~330million people?

Most things would do fine using USB-C.
>But washing machines! But electric tea kettles!
Yeah, most things, not everything. Probably 90% of home power outlets could be replaced by USB-C if most devices in that power range adopted it as a standard.

That'd mean putting active electronics in your walls where they can't be easily serviced, which is usually a bad idea.

Meh, not really a big deal. You don't need to convert the house to 12V DC, just use the existing system and put USB-C in outlets. This isn't about redoing the entire electrical grid, just the typical point of service. Swapping out the contents of an outlet box is pretty easy and while technically is "in your walls", you're not ripping anything up to access it.
It's not a job for your grandma but it's not rocket science either. The main argument against it is the the U in USB is meant to be Universal but those fuckers can't stick to a universal standard to save their lives. Expect there to be USB-QE 2.8xl-super at some point. The outlets in OP's image actually are universal, at least in their geographic context. That has value of its own even if the outlet attributes are a poor fit for the typical use today.

It is not advisable to use data cables to transmit power. The whole design stack-up is different.

unfortunately it took almost 70 years to develop RCD aka residual circuit breaker or GFCI to make AC less dangerous
98% of electric deaths could be avoided with RCD/GFCI

Britbong here. Stepped on one of those fuckers the other day and drew blood. Those things are like punji traps when unplugged for some reason they are always flat-bottomed so the prongs often times stick straight up.

Insulated is superior to grounded
Grounded: the floor is lava in eyes of phase and same in eyes of neutral
Insulated: the floor is insulated from both
