How do I find the height where the peak impact force of a falling object is twice the resting force of gravity?

Doesn't it depend on what ball it is an what surface?

yeah I think the young's modulus of both materials will be involved somehow, probably also the geometry falling object
I just want a rule-of-thumb formula to calculate safety loads, hoping there's a trick to abstract away some of the detail so I don't need to run a whole simulation or anything
