No, they would get sick.
We need calcium for more than just bones. Strontium takes its place, disrupting key metabolic processes.
Even if you somehow put the strontium directly into their bones, the body constantly takes apart and replaces materials, so the strontium would still end up circulating systemically and making them ill.
