Last one of the eclipse. All of this in just one year. I need to buy a good telescope. Does anyone have any suggestions?

By a happy coincidence, I was outside with my wife right when the auroras were peaking where we live.

I never thought on my entire life I would see the northern lights in person and I saw them twice this year. They are amazing.

That's gotta suck. You can't drive anywhere like a reservoir or camp site?

I live in nowhere indiana but was in 100% totality for the eclipse. It lasted for a few minutes and I could look at it with the naked eye. It was one of the coolest things I had ever seen. I'm also just at the edge for the aurora, but it lit up the entire sky and you could see the pink and green ribbons stretch for miles. My friend lived in Alaska for ten years so he wasn't as impressed. He was all "pff, I saw this shit every day"

Lucky for me each event had been clear skies. Not a cloud in the sky. Even though it's an incredibly small town. I still drive about 10 minutes to the reservoir where it's just water and farmland for as far as you can see. Almost no light pollution. I think the full moon tonight made the comet even more visible.
