Its difficult and expensive to develop a different type of reactor and bring it to market.
All the current expertise you have in running nuclear plants are PWR or LWR or variants of those.
Expertise doesnt grow on trees.
Why build a new type of reactor when you can just build a very well understood type of reactor that has thousands of working examples.

It doesn't work. CERN has proved this. Particle physics cost more than it produces.
