What traits are you looking for in GM probiotics?

Maybe they could produce vitamin and nutrients.
Best I can imagine is producing a micro dose of psilocin, especially if you eat Banana. Small dose of psilocin would only make person calm, not hallucinating, so people will be better person from that probiotics.

i take probiotics, but only because i am on antibiotics. the antibiotics i take on broad-spectrum, and would disrupt the microbiota within my gut. an infection i am really paranoid of is CDI(caused by c. difficile), which is normally unable to colonise the gut because the normal microbiota competes for nutrients + space. many strains of c.difficile have gained antibiotic resistance, so they are hard to treat.
although, if you have a healthy lifestyle, you probably wouldnt need to take probiotics. i am not 100% sure of the health benefits if you are already quite healthy

I've seen glowing petunias and mushrooms.
I feel no obligation for my shit to glow in the dark, however amazing it could feel.

Well, in scientific literature they examine both pasteurized and alive bacteria independently, so I would guess, the pasteurized don't live.
But holy shit, this time literally 200€ for living ones in Europe.
