Do you think a lithium ion successor technology will hit consumer markets within the next 10 years?
If so, what will be the winning battery tech?

Short answer, no.
Long answer, maybe sorta
There probably isn't going to be a straight up successor to lithium ion batteries. There will likely be side grades for specific applications, but they're not coming quickly.
A good rule of thumb is that anything new that hits the consumer market is 5-10 years old. They'll be found in high end, expensive shit first, then after another 5-10 years they'll find their way into cheaper, more mass produced products.
There are a few promising technologies out today, but they won't be better than lithium ion for a while (in the applications you are probably thinking of). At least based on publicly available information.

I heard lithium metal were the most likely to succeed?
