I believe it is a solution to the equations to classical general relativity, yes.

>classical general relativity
is there a quantum version of general relativity?

There are approaches to black holes involving quantum mechanics, yes. That is why I said "classical" for emphasis.

That's just a popsci talking point recycled over and over from the 70s. There are various things you can do mixing quantum mechanics and gravity of varying levels of controversiality.

White hole = big bang
Black hole = heat death (yes, at various different points in time)
Worm hole = pipe dream fiction

what is it about black holes that makes them the number one most popular popsci topic of discussion amongst the brainlet soience fangoys?
is it the comic bookish aspects of the spectacular, unrealistic and completely non disprovable conjectures which go along with the topic that make black holes so popular amongst the scientist posers and wannabes?

Akshually I heard physics is le dead. That makes me happy because I'm smart butt lazy and never did anything with my life, even though mommy said I'm a very smart boy. So I'm pretty sure you're wrong and physicists are stupid.

Of course not. All that nonsense emerges from relativity because those cultists don't give a shit about the one way speed of light, so they let it go nuts. The sensible think to do is to embrace absolute spacetime with constant one-way speed of light. That leaves no room for nonsense like that picture. Something that can travel faster than the speed of light becomes just that, and doesn't result in causality violations or any other magical bullshit.

I'm retarded, so can you remind me of something that I'm sure I've learned once and don't remember. Why exactly do we think the speed of light is constant over both space and time?
