๐งต Nitrogen executions - how can they be made more humane (serious replies appreciated)?
Anonymous at Thu, 24 Oct 2024 21:30:29 UTC No. 16447876
Alabama has carried out two executions by nitrogen this year and is set to carry out a third nitrogen execution next month. Although their execution protocol is redacted, I have figured out some of the details:
1. The inmate is put on a gurney and belted onto it.
2. A full-face supplied air respirator is put on the inmate's face.
3. Oxygen is pumped into the respirator while the final preparations are made (moving the witnesses to the viewing rooms, checking the courts for last-minute stays, etc.).
4. Once the execution is cleared to proceed, the respirator tube is briefly disconnected so the inmate can make an audible final statement.
5. The respirator tube is reconnected.
6. Industrial-grade nitrogen is pumped into the mask for at least 15 minutes or until the inmate flatlines (whichever comes last).
7. Once a flatline is detected, the execution chamber is "vented."
The two inmates executed by nitrogen convulsed for several minutes before losing consciousness. What changes should be made to improve nitrogen executions?

>convulsed
Not sure why nitrogen does that, maybe it's biologically active slightly at high dose. but helium exit bag would be supposedly painless because helium is inert. It's also mentioned in that book by some Scandinavian dudes who advocate euthanasia. Forgot the book name but I had a pdf

Test with brain electrodes on pigs to find the right gas and combine the final treatment with an orally taken muscle relaxant.

use argon - it's still inert, but has a closer molecular mass and density to air than helium, and is significantly cheaper.

Knock them out first so they can't throw a tantrum in a breath-holding spell?
You will never be able to totally eliminate convulsions, when the ATP concentrations drop in neurons the resting membrane potential can't be maintained anymore and they depolarize. Same concept as rigor mortis.

These over-complicated execution methods are deeply disturbing. I can't quite articulate why, maybe its something to do with the close interaction between the executioner and prisoner. Anyway, the only acceptable way to kill someone with gas is to do so by filling the room they are placed in. There needs to be distance. Strapping someone down and doing shit directly to them is just wrong.

Walking up and popping someone in the head would unironically be faster and less painful and distressing.

Just use the wheel of passing out.
Lie flat on the wheel, feet facing out, and you get strapped. Above a threshold RPM the G forces overwhelm the heart and you blackout.
Theres another method to blackout and its just pinching some neck arteries. I really dont know why medieval surgeons didnt use this method as quick anesthesia, you can pull teeth and do amputations in a minute or two, nothing bad will happen to the brain if it gets deprived of oxygen for a minute or two.

They either held their breath or nitrogen was pumped at too high pressure and damaged their lungs. You wont feel a thinf if you breathe pure nitrogen atmoshpere, youll just fall asleep and die.
Thats why its so dangerous and you should avoid stepping into an elevator if someone is using it to transport liquid nitrogen. There is no warning, your brain just stops working, but your body cannot register that something is wrong. Human body can only register elevated blood co2, not lack of oxygen.

God help me /sci/ is so stupid. I know the perfect method of execution that's 110% painless and the most humane you can make it given the laws of physics we have in The Universe.
No I will not tell you. WHY? Because as I often lecture you faggot whoresexuals.....just because you are smart and can figure out a problem DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM! We have a sacred duty to only use our powers of intellect for the good of mankind and not evil. Unfortunately 99,999999999879% of the time smart people do the wrong thing. They accept cash from evil people to solve problems that evil people need solved so they can enslave and kill and be evil more than they were before. The ego of the smart person liking the boost from solving hard problems paired with the lizard brain's desire for resources has spawned countless evils in the world that always end poorly.
So no, I will not help you kill people better. Fuck you all.

Why did we stop executing people by shooting or hanging? Both seem simpler and cheaper. Is it because it's too visceral for the executioner? No one wants to have to deal with the exploded cranium or floppy broken neck? Just seems like we go to a lot of trouble to take care of someone we're ending anyway.

>Breathing pure inert gas is the painless method,
Pain isnt the only type of suffering. Physical sensations like hunger or suffocation are not painful, and there are many others like it. Like the feeling of being sleep deprived, or suffering psychologically. None of those can be described as painful.
To summarize: Painless=!Sufferingless

Similar sort of sentiment? Something offends me about nitrogren executions. Beheading with a sword is honest by simplicity. The fancy scientific apparatus feels corporate and bureaucratic, "uncaring" or "soulless", as silly as it is to apply those terms to executions.

This, they probably forgot to make some exhaust port or something (make sure this gas doesn't escape to the environment, it must be expensive and poisonus, i don't wanna poison myself or fellow prison guards, it must be at least as dangerous as DHMO) and prisoner recirculated their CO2.
Or someone thought it would be funny to add something to nitrogen. Maybe ammonia or whatever sulfur compounds make natgas sting?

I saw a post here on 4chan that said the way the Soviets would do it was unlock a prisoner from his cell and order him to walk to a room to cover the details of his execution, saying how he would like to die and where and when, but apparently on the way to the room somebody would pop him right in the back of the head while he never noticed a thing. Seems believable enough.

lefty legislatures don't want the poor murderers to suffer in their last moments so they got rid of all the executions that served as real deterrents and made the death penalty a peaceful passing away in their sleep.
