I could think it makes you better to think in depths in deterministic systems. But it's just too predictive, you know exactly where you and your enemy can go and what effect each move has, reality isn't like that and I could think that it is even bad for improvised thinking and intuition if you play too much chess because its a game reflects a reality that lacks essential things our reality, like randomness and fog of war, and you get too used to the lack of those.
