If you can get all the component parts there first does it matter if it's autonomous or if there's somebody there running it? The second sounds more realistic to me.

1. Send robots to clear out a plot of land and flatten it
2. Send multiple starships, each with a part of the habitat structure. While in orbit around Mars, they build the habitat structure.
3. The habitat descends into Mars' atmosphere, then deploys a large parachute, then uses small boosters to navigate to the prepared plot of land

People only need about a ton of food per year, about a ton of water per year with ISS level recycling. Air is easier than on the ISS because you can just pull from the atmosphere. Supporting a long duration mission is well within Starship's payload capabilities.
As for robots, the $3 billion dollar Curiosity rover has gone 20 miles in 12 years. I already did that this morning for free. Robots just aren't there.

>what wave length does harmful em waves operate in?
the main risk from EM radiation in space is xray and gamma produced during solar flare events. The main and constant danger is from particle radiation.
>How does the earths atmosphere protect life from harmful em and uv?
various interactions with gas molecules, while the magentosphere protects from energetic particles, some becoming trapped in the VAB. However keep in mind that even in open space, all UV radiation for example is fully blocked by the visor on an EVA helmet, and nearly all cosmic xrays are blocked by a sheet of paper. Only solar flares pose any threat in terms of EM radiation.

An astronaut recently said about coming back from the space station:
"When you come back, that first 24 hours especially, there’s a lot of vomiting, a lot of walking sideways when you’re meant to walk straight. And for a lot of people, they can’t even walk. I think it really takes about six full months to get back to your normal self of what you were before flight."
He's talking about microgravity, but that doesn't sound very promising considering Mars low gravity.
I think a lot of people are severly underestimating the problem.
