Glasses; aside from the already mentioned infection issues contacts can cause, modern shatter-resistant lenses also provide a degree of protection from assorted eye injuries. Granted, typical glasses are not as good at protecting your eyes as proper safety googles, but at least can stop smaller stuff going directly at the eye.

Never happened to me, but I agree people like that shouldn't wear them.
And probably shouldn't do a lot of more things.
Contact lenses work well and are safe if you're cautious enough to understand the needed procedures.
