That video is just ridiculous. Depression rates in posdocs are higher than in the average population. Are we allowed to talk about it, or is conformity with the establishment so important that it can not withstand any sort of criticism? Yeah, she clickbaits for the American ignoramuses out there, she's making money not running a charity, I don't care.

This is all cope the moment you added

So you don't disagree with the video. All you had to say was

>you can’t deny science, because it’s the infallible truth
I fucking hate people like him. This blind scientism is a religion. Actual science is founded on scepticism and should encourage it. Does that mean everyone should listen to crackpots? Of course not. But neither does it mean people should be silenced or stigmatized for their scepticism. This anathema has nothing to do with science.

Filtered. The problem with Sabine is that she herself IS exactly the worst kind of scientist she loves to bitch about in her videos. In fact she's probably worse.
Sabine complains constantly about physicists getting funding to research ideas which she thinks won't go anywhere. She makes these bitchy videos about particle physicists, while she herself is a MoNDtard. MoND is not just "not going to go anywhere," it's already been disproven. There's an enormous amount of even basic observations which MoND can't explain at all. It's a completely trashed theory. Sabine works in it anyway, while bitching about other physicists for working on theories she doesn't personally like. It's just straight up dishonest hypocritical bullshit.
Not just that, but she's peddling her "status" as a """scientist""" to bait retards into listening to her bullshit takes on basically everything. I've worked on a topic Sabine made a video on and her opinions were outright retarded. What are the odds she knows what she's talking about on her videos on AI, economics, social issues, ecology, and basically every other meme topic out there? All while unironically being a MoND retard, continuing to intentionally ignore mountains of evidence disproving it while larping as if she's the last ethical scientist alive.
Sabine's basically the buzzfeed of physics. Stupid, braindead content for morons easily baited by basedface thumbnails. I'll never understand why people like her on this site of all places.

This wasn't the criticism in the video at all. I don't know why you're bringing this up. I would have made the exact same comment on any other video with this sort of narrative.

Anonymous No. 16455963

>>16455960
There's no deflection, it should just be implicitly understood by anyone who isn't a retard (such as you, apparently) that I was telling you you were completely wrong.
I'm not a string theorist, and even if I were, pursuing string theory would still be objectively less stupid than MoND which fails when you examine even the most basic data. At least a string theorist only expects to be mostly wrong some time in the future, instead of catastrophically wrong right now.

Anonymous No. 16455997

>muh MOND
>muh string theory
the problem is the epistemic gap
physics is no longer right, it is right only within a certain "domain of validity". science is never true, it is always less and less wrong, but it is never not wrong
symbolic manipulation is taken as the absolute source to explain natural phenomena but there are also no differences between the symbolic and the phenomenal so it explains only itself
the model has defeated the real, there is no more reality, all frames of references are interchangeable and so on

it's a well-established fact that chemists have a long history of explicitly denying anything that doesn't fit into their scientific worldview
in 1772 Lavoisier, the father of modern chemistry, denied that meteorites exist, saying it was physically impossible for a rock to fall from space and that any such claim was really just an Earth rock blown into the sky by lightning. after all, you can look into the sky, and there are no rocks, so where did they come from? that would be an entirely anti-scientific claim

Modern string theory takes the view that QFT without gravity itself is equivalent to a QFT with gravity in higher dimensions. This is the meat of the AdS/CFT correspondence. You don’t have to like it, but that insight is objectively more of an achievement than mond which fails the minute you notice different galaxies of similar sizes have different amounts of dark matter. It’s unironically easier to posit new particles which don’t interact with electromagnetism than to imagine mond.

Without the list of her retarded opinions you're nothing but a butthurt cern-wagie.
I don't know much of MoND or if she's its proponent, but from what I read about it, this theory is alive and kicking, modifying itself. And alternative points of view on complicated topics is not something we have excessive surplus of. Whatever her pet theory is, it doesn't demand an accelerator of the size of the planet.

Because it disagrees with observation, and constantly needs to tune and add fudge-factors to account for ever more discrepancies. I think there needs to be an even bigger reformulation of gravity to completely replace dark matter, which is still needed even with MOND. To that end, I think even if there's a more accurate theory of gravity, some amount dark matter will still be implicated.
