What are your shticks at conferences?
Mine are bringing 3 posters and never attending any and trimming my pubes full of hope on the day before departure.

i'm pretty sure science conferences are 95% about going somewhere cool, and 5% networking.
the rest is just a facade.
in my field (EE), every piece of advice I got was "go to conferences, but submit your lowest effort tripe and save the good shit for journals". it made me question why go to conferences at all, until i went to one in orlando and realized everyone was there as an excuse to go to fucking disney world.
that being said, at least some conferences like SIGGRAPH are legit. just depends on what you're into.
