I mean, that's not even that hard to do even for a midwit like me. You just move the decimal point over twice and then .75+.75=1.5 then double it for 3.
My friends like to go shopping with me because I can calculate the taxes for them because just moving decimal points over is the simplest shit in the world.

Very Basic: 4% = (1%+1%)*2
1% of 75 is easily calculated as .75 by moving decimals.

>>16465116
4% is 1/25. You should be able to divide 75 by 25 in your head instantly.

It's called arithmetic.
0.04*75 = 4*(1/100)*75 = 2*2*0.75 = 2*1.5 = 3

Anonymous at Thu, 7 Nov 2024 19:19:38 UTC No. 16466287
Easy when you realize that 4% of 75 = 4 * (1/100) * 75 = 75 * (1/100) * 4

you guys make it so much more complex than it has to be. This >>16465848 is how you do math in your head. You simplify it as much as possible. You just figure out what 1% is, which is .75 and try to get it to 4%. So if you add it, you know already that it has to get to four and you can skip a step and just double it. So rather than going .75+.75+.75+.75 you do (.75+.75)*2.
It's like when you're adding a bunch of numbers. You find match the ones that make 10s. So if you're adding 5+2+7+3+8+5 you don't go left to right, you go 5+5+7+3+8+2. I'm 99% sure this is how everyone does basic math in their head.
So if you spend $120 and have 7% sales tax, you know that 1% is 1.20 and just multiple the 1 x 7 to get 7 and then the .2 to get 1.4 then add those together to get 8.4. $128.4 including tax. The simple ability to do this absolutely stunned my friends in college (I went to art school and all my friends were female photographers).

actually writing out the 4*(1/100) makes it look like an extra step of doing actual math when just knowing to move it two decimals overseems automatic. Technically they are teh same thing, but writing it out that way rather than just saying "lol move it over two" psychologically makes it seem more complex. Like, you've written out how the math is technically done rather than how you would do it in your head.
While >>16465848 is saying "you know to move two decimals and to double it after" is skipping the technical steps. Like just knowing your multiplication tables rather than writing it down at all.
Man, it's a psychological thing is what I'm getting at. One way just looks more complicated than the other even though they are the same.

I took all AP mathematic courses in highschool and I always got shit for never showing my work. If I can just do it in my head, I don't know why I have to write it down. For the more complex problems you have to or it would be literally impossible to solve unless you were some autistic savant but still. I went the art route rather than STEM though. Painting is a lot more fun than doing math. I originally wanted to be an architect in highschool but it turned out I like designing the buildings more than actually making them structurally sound. So I became a concept artist in the video game industry. I get to design buildings all day long and don't have to do any o the math to go along with it.
