By choosing a better tool for the job. /sci/ will always be fishing for pearls in mud because its vulnerable to information warfare campains that reduce signal to noise ratio. Von neumann would agree, we should build error correcting codes into the image board. But also challenge each other, instead of shitlosting, we should be self publishing in imageboard format.

Hashchan.network has a sci board when your ready to challenge yourself and other anons to reach a brighter tomorrow

I've taught other people one-on-one before.

Truth of the matter is, there's a genetic limit to everyone's mental potential. Some people are just savants that pick up everything. Then there's people on the opposite end. There are specifics you can talk about and not something vague like "IQ" such as can't visualize well, or having good memory but can't utilize memory to new applications (this is sorta vague), or not being able to keep track of flow of logic (like start at A, go to B, go to C - you remember what A is right? No? *sigh). Some of it has to do with age, like I know I was bad at writing and reading until I got to an age where stuff "clicks".

There are people with PhD's who aren't mentally gifted but put in the effort. But there also exist people who aren't mentally gifted but probably wouldn't have a chance at a STEM phd regardless of effort.

You ask how to get smarter while posting a picture of a crying frog. If you feel that you're not gifted, you should first know that you don't need to be to have a great life. If you have no chance at a STEM phd, you simply don't need one - just find a passion, and strive for achievable goals like having a social life, hobbies, and retirement money. Still, everyone should strive to be smarter; to be smarter, read books that interest you (dont waste time on ones that dont), keep up with the news, be friends with people who aren't dumb (doesn't have to be all of them), and most importantly, keep an open mind. Similar people fall easily to the echo chamber trap, so keeping your mind open should be a priority. Also, learn when to keep your mouth shut and listen to smarter people.

If you do have a chance at a STEM phd, do everything already mentioned above, but the difference is that now you have the potential to do more. First off, don't just read simple books - harder books (potentially with practice problems if it makes sense to have em) that give a lot of detail will make you smarter. Taking high quality notes is a must. Listening to lectures, having a mentor, and surrounding yourself with smart people for guidance is needed. You need to build a "culture" around yourself that promotes learning significant information. Finally, you need to practice, practice, practice. Nothing will stick unless you force it to stick. Keeping readable notes gives you some leeway on memorizing.
