Why are viruses like that?
and what the fuck ARE they?
why can't they be alive?
weird cunts

Their carcinogenic nature becomes a lot more obvious once you realize they punch holes in your cells, illegally print some jank-ass DNA/RNA, then leave their shitty bootleg printers behind

If you did accept them as life form, they wouldn't be so angry and dangerous. Maybe there would be some which extends life of a host.

They're weirdos that have genetic code but aren't alive

They are organised, therefore they are organisms, but they aren't alive?

Viruses are alive. Ignore the people saying they're not. They know what they're doing, and they love it when you mald.

>carcinogenic nature
but they existed before multicellular organisms

>muh not alive
A pointless distinction. They may lack some properties of most organisms, but on the other hand they still reproduce and mutate. Nature doesn't know or care which things we label as "alive".

>A pointless distinction.
It's a pretty big one.
>They may lack some properties of most organisms
They lack most of them, not just "some".
>but on the other hand they still reproduce and mutate
They don't even do that in the strict sense. Viruses are literally just genetic information in a protein shell. They don't REproduce, they are produced by cells of their host.

They are alive. Life is the property of non-animated things.

You could say they reproduce as parasites.
I can accept to not considering them a lifeform but any definition at some point is arbitrary.

no because they're obligate intracellular parasites and can't reproduce without a host.

>You could say they reproduce as parasites.
But they don't, all other parasites have their own means of reproduction, even if reliant on the host for nutrients etc. And again, they don't exactly REproduce. They don't have the capability to reproduce. They are only capable of forcing cells to produce them. This is entirely different from how all other life propagates.
>I can accept to not considering them a lifeform but any definition at some point is arbitrary.
Obviously, but they are so much different from all other life that the distinction seems entirely justified. Again, they really are just genetic material in a protein shell. They are so simple we can synthesize them in a lab from ground up.
