Is biology, the study of living things, superior to physics, the study of matter and energy? Why should we care about inanimate rocks and predictable physical processes, when God's love and power is most apparent in things that live and breathe.

What kind of question is this?, to begin with some biological processes that are very intimate to humans like the true inner workings of the brain we can only be hope to understand them once we are able to simulate the entire thing, and to simulate the entire thing advances in physics, chemistry, and technology will be needed

Biology is the child of math>physics + chemistry
Also, OP is a faggot
and pic unrelated

why is simulating the brain a noble goal? what do we hope to gain?

>Is biology, the study of living things, superior to physics, the study of matter and energy?
If we knew as much about biology as we do about physics our lives would probably be significantly better. We know precious little about living things and medicine.
The reason there hasn't been any tangible quality of life improvements in the past 30-40 years is our understanding of biology has largely stagnated. It's entirely an understudied/neglected field despite appearances.

We can probably develop cures for things previously thought not curable by medicine like depression, ptsd, anxiety, schizophrenia, etc
Whatever, i never did say it was noble anyway, i was speaking from OP's perspective, he says that the study of biology should be more appealing because of "god's love", so the brain should be a pretty important part of god's creation to him

Which of these were a thing before medicine?

The disorders you mean?, probably all of them with the exception of depression

Probably all of them?
You don't think PTSD was invented in the last one hundred years?
And what cures are there? You talking about the chemical imbalances that were recently deboonked? Or the part where they only ever try to turn people to vegetative states with surgery or chemicals?

>You don't think PTSD was invented in the last one hundred years?
PTSD was invented?, what?, please give a more detailed answer explaining your conspiracy theory here, i also believe goverments have purposefully made mental health worse and worse over the years, but how can they "invent" PTSD?
>And what cures are there?
How would i know?, we understand very little about what we call the mind, im saying that if there is cure for this disorders we can get closer by simulating an entire brain.
Before you mention it, yes, i do believe that complete brain sumulation technology would be usef nefariously by people in power and would bring more harm than good.

>why should we care
no one is forcing you to care for anything. People have their interests, and will do what is interesting to them. Why force someone to study biology if they don't care for it, when studying for physics enthusiastically can lead to some useful information for biology(assuming it's the most useful)?
People do not owe humanity anything else, be thankful they are contributing, let them do their thing.

well i think a lot of physicists think they're cool because their field is the "top and bottom of the stack" so to speak, and biology is somewhere in the messy middle

It's less "scientific" in that it's less predictable, but it's way more interesting and useful. Inanimate objects rarely "surprise" you, but Biology/Mother Nature will ALWAYS do something that "should be impossible" which means there is always more and more to learn.
Genetics is now allowing us to "Digitize" Biology more than ever and we will soon be able to alter and "improve" genomes at our leisure. We're nearly there already. Once we can control the "software"(DNA), the "hardware"(tissues/organs) will be a piece of cake. We'll just be able to grow new parts in vivo, or in situ. Unlimited Eugenics here we come!

Imagine welcoming eugenics with excitement as if it will not be abused by those in power and bring incredible harm
