>be 33 and perfectly healthy
>get cut on finger at work, bleed quite a bit, get lightheaded, etc.
>finally stops after awhile
>after that, have irregular heartbeat and have trouble breathing
>persists for several hours
>go to the ER to see what’s up
>I have afib and will probably be on medication the rest of my life

How exactly is this possible when I have no history of heart issues and had no symptoms just a few hours ago? I thought the cut had something to do with this but the doctors don’t seem to care.

Going by this, would I not need medication?

No, just that it's possible the physical/psychological stress from blood loss unmasked a latent condition. More generally many ailments are '2-hit' like this. It would be dumb not to treat something that could kill you.

>be me
>7th grade health class
>watching video on STDs
>starts talking about HIV/AIDS
>talks about how it infects your blood
>"Oh fuck"
>start getting light headed
>sweating profusely
>almost pass out and fall out of my desk
Needless to say it still happens whenever I think about any blood borne illnesses. Scary, but I dont think it indicates I have an illness.

Your first mistake was going to the hospital their job is not to heal people it's to prescribe medication for profit hospitals only care about profit I don't care about you they just want your money forever that's why every medication is for life they don't want to fix you they want to fix your symptoms

correct. the "heart" is just a budge in a muscular artery that doesn't actually "pump" in the true sense, but "wrings" itself, like twisting a wet towel. the valves keep everything flowing in the proper directions, but there is no actual piston-stroke style pumping taking place.

afib anon here. Obviously you were not perfectly healthy, you did not notice the issue was present and likely developing with time until one day when it made itself knows. Same happened to me about 20 years ago. I noticed that sleeping on my left side triggers it. I also noticed by accident that staying very hydrated (drink lots of 50/50 water/gatorade) and regular cardio (30 minutes a day minimum zone 2 with some HIIT at the end) really helps. If I notice it starts to putter a little I immediately start hydrating again. Your results may very. Not medical advice. We all have to deal with something sooner or later, at least you found out this way instead of dropping dead without warning (like some employee did in my office) or suffering a crippling stroke from a clot.

I got my first afib episode at 26. 1 year after losing 20 pounds, stoping smoking, started exercising and getting healthier... Rhytm disorders are very annoying to deal with and the doctors don't know shit. Better get used to it. I hope they find a fix for us someday that doesn't involve some retard burning your heart every 2 years.
