It would be possible, on theoretical grounds only, to imagine a virus whose reproduction is triggered by the presence of a gene closely associated with some ethnic group. I doubt this is something physically feasible but I don't doubt that it could be possible. Consider the following: Some transmittable diseases are already found to vary in their contagiousness depending on ethnic make-up. Black people, for example, are more resistant to Malaria than White people. They are, however, more suspect to Yellow Fever.
