Equal opportunity is a federal law that applies to all government agencies and government-funded institutions. That includes private universities. It’s de facto not enforced, but the recent ruling of the Supreme Court against affirmative action is a step in the right direction.

A black student coming from a classic dysfunctional black family with a missing father, who manages to maintain good grades across the board and has a couple personal projects or leadership experiences in his pocket has, to me at least, much more merit, than your average asian-american enrolled in berkeley purely because they were put since a young age in expensive private schools and forced to go through dozens of extracurricular and never really lived a childhood beyond the pursuit of greatness and beating others at everything. These people are massively overrepresented in academia because we think they have merit, but it should have become clear that to this day, most of the greatest innovations and research outcomes came from whites, who usually have lived through a much more balanced childhood and werent raised to be the virtually the best at everything, but to actually do what they like and are good at.

How many asians at MIT/Harvard/Stanford? And how many of them are successful scientists recognized by their peers, or excellent entrepreneurs who dont just follow every tech hype cycle? The latter is almost always white people regardless of the overrepresentation of Asians.

If by "hundreds" of years, you mean ~75 years, and by "White Western Schools", you mean elite American universities and like 2 Bongoloid universities, then sure.
