🧵 What are the actual mechanics behind sickness-induced weight loss

I've been feeling sick since yesterday.
I've experienced headaches, a sore throat, elevated body temperature and fatigue.
I've also noticed my pajama bottoms feel less tight around my waist.
I know many diseases have weight loss as a secondary symptom but what actually causes it?

Anon. Your body burns calories fighting off sickness. It burns more than usual when your sick because your immune system uses more energy to fight off the sickness. If your not eating enough calories you'll lose weight. Simple.
