Is chess truly high iq?

That depends. If you like chess, then yes it's obviously high IQ and only serious gigachads can hope to dedicate their lives to it. If you don't like it, then it's obviously just a pointless triviality for people whot think they are smart, but are actually so stupid that they have tricked themselves into dedicating their lives to something so fruitless.

It's not all there is to IQ, but the best chess players have insanely high, almost superhuman working memory, which is a necessary component of high IQ.
Most professional chess players would be extremely successful software engineers, or could be elite in another profession like medicine or law.

99% of the players are faggots who stall the game the second they make a bad move or you gain a serious advantage.
That's why I only play bullet these days.

Only very low level and very high level chess. As in, if you teach two people the rules and make them play the smarter person will destroy the dumber one. The middle is filled with people possessing nothing but rote memorization skills, but at the top that's not enough and you need high IQ again.

That's not chess. That's pseudo chess. Popular on Earth with all the pseuds who lead us. Real chess boards are 10*10, not 8*8 which forces you to make a pointless move now and then just to get back to pushing your strategy.

It's a game of memory, concentration, and calculation. ESPECIALLY memory. Memory is easily the biggest thing. There are tons of clips of chess GM's recalling board states from games played decades ago. And pretty much all of them can do this.

IQ can help you with some of these things, but it's not 1:1. Same as any skill really.

I postulate that higher iq people would find chess more stimulating and rewarding than lower iq people. Low iq people are not entertained by strategy games because they require planning and calculation.

Chess is something intelligent people do on the side. The full time autistic chess savants are not intelligent enough to do anything useful.
