Why don't universities filter for IQ anymore? I mean the top 100 do but beyond that it's a wash, any retard can get into 140 ranked uni by cramming, any retard can get into 300 ranked uni with just reading and at 400 it's just free
I don't really care about diluting prestige or the workload/expenses this incurs but it's extremely destructive to students who are the retards. 110 IQ midwit shouldn't be studying EE or CS, that's a waste of his time.

Ranking is a meme, particularly for undergraduate. At the post graduate and PhD level it's a bit different since presumably lower intelligence students would have been filtered out a bit and have weak/failing grades.
Important to remember that whilst psychometric g is very real. Some students will be much more adept in verbal/non verbal fields. Since schools are often forcing kids to specialize earlier and earlier, you may land up with a 115 IQ student at a top 15 university who has a non verbal IQ of 130 and a verbal IQ of 100. That's perhaps a bit exadurated but I've seen plenty of similar situations myself.

Why? I see midwits of this range make okay money and form relatively stable careers constantly. You'd be surprised the level of professional success a mediocre intellect can get you if applied properly.

IQ is an outdated system. Originally it's usage was to regulate factory and military workers adeptness at basic mental tasks. It's not the greatest test for creative thinking; something universities thrive on. It's usage is slowly being replaced by phycological profiling like the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator and SAGE.

You fundamentally do not understand what IQ is. It has far more to do with the capacity to quickly learn and obtain new competencies than it does with simply knowing everything. IQ is not a marker to denote some arbitrary level of information retention based on a numerical value.

Why would an university care about performance in some arbitrary exam that has nothing to do with the curriculum, when they have exams that verify the actual knowledge required to study? Why would a med school for example be interested in a 180 IQ person that can't into biology and organic chemistry? And why would they care that another person is 100 IQ when they have nontheless showed proficency in these area?
