๐Ÿงต Am I a midwit?

Anonymous No. 16577776

Hello so first of all, my measured IQ is 127.

I went on an interview today and there was this problem: You have 7 letters, AAABBCD, how many unique codes can you create?

I had combinatorics in HS and I even passed statistics in uni. I also passed calculus I and II in uni. Why do these problems still give me a tough time? This should be easy for me.

Anyone also struggling with something more elementary they should have known a long time ago?

>AAABBCD
7 positions for D
6 positions for C
4+3+2 = 9 for the Bs
378 is the answer, I had an iq >130 as a child. I think I got dumber probably because of the drugs. I'm only like 30% confident this is the correct answer. I just counted where to put the letters and multiplied together... maybe the problem doesn't actually decompose that way I dunno.

I missed the 2 B's at the end, should be 4+3+2+1
so answer is 420

I know how to do this kinda problem but this is a terrible interview question. The only reason to ask someone this is if you're looking for a reason not to hire them so you can hire some h1b jeets instead. Funny it humbled you enough to post here though lol.

Interviewers will evaluate everything you do, how you look, how you dress, how you speak, how you solve that problem. Even if you just say 420 you will be asked to describe in detail the steps you followed to reach that answer.

My answer: Without uniqueness the answer is 7!.
For every pattern, the three As can be switched in any order to produce 3! (=6) non unique patterns including itself.
Divide by 6 to get 7 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2
Also the Bs can be switched to generate two non-uniques, so divide by two as well.
Final Answer: 7 * 5 * 4 * 3 = 420

Do not start by trying to figure out how many positions does each letter have first, just think logically.
You have 7 letters, thus it should be 7!.
However, you have 2 instances of repetition, 2 B's and 3 A's.
So you must get rid of combinations taking account for the not unique letters. 3! for the As and 2! for the Bs.
7!/(2!)(3!)
420 (dude weed)

Do we only allow 7 letter codes? or [math]\leq 7[/math] letter codes as well?

its easy: just get every possible combination and subtract the ones that are repeating:

you can start with any letter but ill start with "D" because i think you'll understand faster
I - "D" can be in 7 places and each will give a different combination each time, so thats 7 times the rest everything else

II - "C" can be in 7 places, except where "D" is, therefore thats 7-1=6 positions it can be and result in a different combintation each time, so thats 6 times the rest everything else

III - the first "B" you pick can be in 7 places, except where "D" or "C" will aready be, therefore thats 7-2=5 positions it can be and result in a different combintation each time, so thats 5 times everything else

IV - the second "B" you pick can be in 7 places, except where "D"," C" or the first "B" will aready be, therefore thats 7-3=4 positions it can be, but since swapping the first and the second "B" will not generate different combinations, we account for it by dividing the ammount of positions it can be placed by the number of repeating elements, which in this case amounts to 4/2, which equals 2 positions it can be {{{{{{{AND}}}}}}} result in a different combintation each time, so thats 2 times everything else

V - following the the explanation in "III" and "IV", each "A" can be in 7 positions, except where "D", "C", "B"s and other "A"s will be, therefore that's 7-4=3, and then 3/3=1, so thats 1 times everything else (the last element you account for is already implied to be in every other combination, which is why it always results in 1)

By "I", "II", "III", "IV", and "V" you get 7*6*5*2*1=420

Anonymous No. 16584848

>>16584844
if thats was too fast, you can also do like this:
V - following the the explanation in "III" for the first A: 7-4=3, 3 times everything else

VI - following the the explanation in "IV" for the the second A: 7-5=2, 2/2=1, 1 times everything else

VII - following the the explanation in "IV" for the the third A: 7-6=1, 1/3, 0.333... times everything else [notice that by "V", "VI" and "VII" amounts to 3*1*(1/3)=1, because the last element you account for is already implied to be in every other combination]
now that i think about it, i dont know how i would calculate if you didnt had to use all 7 slots

7*6*5*4/2! = 420 unique patterns
D C B B is the order of placements
IQ above 145, I almost got it wrong and yes I had that probability stuff in school. The division by 2! is because the order of B's doesnt matter.

IQ is a Governmental Student con where nerds profit socially from brandishing an ID that apparently represents their intelligence level, allowing them to skip any performance. It helps Jews. It helps fake news media shill propaganda over the TV. And most of all, Governmental Students get in bed with half witted males and females stupid fucking faggit.
