Do we overdiagnose autism?

There's a cluster of things that get lumped into autism. Tech addiction plays a role in some.

When women start getting in on the autism fad for social cache, you know it's overdiagnosed

People still associates "autism" with the old and more restrictive definition autism far more dysfunctional. Nowadays Asperger, mild autism (non-dysfunctional) are considered autism. Besides the possible over-diagnostication because doctors aren't perfect.
Being diagnosed with autism changes almost nothing, if you receive medication is only because you have problems with your daily life (depression, anxiety, HA, etc).
This BS is politicization because there're people profiting with lawsuits against companies and the government. Besides the usual contrarians "anti-system"

Outside of professional settings, there's a weird trend of people without autism wanting to be autistic.
I think it's because characters in movies and shows who have autism are usually portrayed as super geniuses. Sort of like how people with glasses are usually shown as being hyper intellectual and sophisticated, so a lot of people started emulating that sort of character by wearing glasses to "look smart". But that idea has kind of gone away, so this has taken its place.

Most of them are self-diagnosed.
