did you derive the blue line using only the quadratic? I'm trying to think how you got to +1,-1 from just 20 and 99

(x+1)^2 + (y-1)^2 = 99+2

this set up works with x^2 + 6 x + 8= 0 as well
(x+1)^2 + (y-1)^2 = 8+2
graphing this gets you the correct roots

The blue curve in the 1st post is a parabola.
The blue curve in the 2nd and 3rd posts is a circle.
The equation of the circle is depicted in the 5th post.
