Could optogenetics cure any mental illnesses in the future?

I have program that generates alpha 10hz, beta 20hz, and gamma 30hz noise on 120hz monitor.
When I look into it, I feel alerted and I notice patterns in noise. It works for few minutes you're not looking.
But if you incorporate it in rendering engine such as wayland or X, having transparent noise on top of normal screen, it can help you focus on work.

Apparently, this can alter the sexual orientation of mice.

Ultrasonics seems like the more achievable treatment, use a lipid encapsulated mRNA and ultrasonic transducers around the brain to blast them across the B/BB. Easier than brain surgery and shoving fiber optics up there.

yea that pic is exploiting ultrasound's better internal precision to do the gene therapy itself, having some way to activate the channels without electrodes or optics inside makes nonivasive treatment for epilepsy a lot more feasible.

Electrical stimulation in the right part of the brain was able to turn a man from gay to straight in japanese experiments. Tech that lets you stimulate the right part of the brain with single neuron resolution and feedback should be able to cure or create pretty much any mental illness. Optogenetics is a meme though.

I believe they were talking about this paper. It's pretty ineffective most of the time, not to mention that it's also invasive.
