I like that mathematics is an endless conflict of someone creating some useful tool or even a new field and the old guard calling them deluded and their work pure fiction only to a hundred years later the new work finding useful applications and everyone accepting it out of pragmatism, only for them to become the new old guard and the process to repeat
you still have people arguing about irrational numbers, imaginary numbers etc not being real and intuitionists screaming about set theories that produce useful results

math is like the gym but of course there are a few differences. its an exercise of the mind. there is no cheating, either you understand something or you don’t. it takes forever to make meaningful process.
