Arduous job experience needs to be a requirement for medicine admissions. Womb to Residency type people, where being an MD resident in their first job, aren't well-equipped to handle the throes of real life. Change my mind.

When I went to the ER, there was a woman from the hospital administration that came around and asked everyone for their pronouns and sexual preferences. It was weird hearing her ask such questions to an elderly lady who had been in a car accident and a fifteen year old girl who was there for some other reason that wasn't obvious. The administrator said it was a new law called SOGIE and they had to ask everyone. The ER seems like a sneaky place to do it because people are vulnerable and more willing to comply to get treatment.

I can't find any links, but there was this method of treating mental health patients decades ago called 'naturalism therapy' or something like that. They'd basically prescribe you a rural lifestyle, especially if you were innercity. So some people were shipped off for major mental illnesses like schizophrenia and they improved without drug administration. All they did was hang out innawoods, and lived where hospital staff worked in case of an emergency. I think a lot of our psych shit is a 'dirty fish tank' problem more than it being a 'sick fish' problem. Though, changing the environment doesn't make money like drugs. iirc, their living conditions were basically the same as a low-care nursing home and they were encouraged to go hang out in nature and chill out.

Well, start by putting X in the middle, everything goes to X.
Then to one side put VII. Add III, and you're at X! The other side start counting down from XII.
XII, XI, IX (we already have X), XIII. Then common pathway is X V III II I, counting down. We already had 9, 8, and 7. 6 and 4 don't really matter IIRC.
I dont feel like drawing it out. As far as PT vs PTT, I think of PT like physical training in the military. You do it outside. Outside = external = extrinsic = VII, III etc

i needed to lay down so i got on the bathroom floor (this has happened before)
i realized, on the floor, that if i die or pass out i could do a shit all over the floor, so i got back up to try and get on the toilet and sitting on it i had to lay back down again (this has happened before)
i got stuck in this loop (like the term "brain loop") (this has happened before - also when i took melatonin and went to sleep and woke up trying to escape my bed, with no thoughts)
i realized the problem and turned on the bathroom tap to have a drink and my body would just put its mouth next to the stream of water and do panting - i had to force myself to breathe normally and drink and had bad thoughts about if i didnt
most of this has happened before and could of been DXM (brain loop), lowered electrolytes via frequent urination, low blood sugar; sitting on the toilet and doing this could be POTS, heart problems, diabetes. the dehydration route is further supported by the small intestine problem and i guess constipation (i didnt poo in time to go lie down but pushing in this state might be problematic). it could also be a dopaminergic issue
Anonymous at Sat, 29 Mar 2025 09:52:42 UTC No. 16631611
i have severe dehydration when i dont drink for a day after having water prior- as in, i can drink an unlimited amount of water and feel thirsty. i can drink water and go to bed and wake up with my mouth burning, needing a drink and my brain telling me that i could die in my sleep if i dont
id say my kidney function is sub-optimal or that i have one functioning kidney. ive had kidney stones in the last 5 years i think
i mixed 200ml of isopropyl alcohol with water (1L) and then drank it, and then another 200ml when the water was at 500ml but the taste for that was too bad with no effect on drunkdness
but drinking isopropyl alcohol in a small amount i think did help because i urinated less frequently and mentally felt better. i did this to get some form of sugars or energy in my body because i forgot to mention that my diet in these last 2 weeks has been bread for a total of 3 loafs (i am in extreme poverty). i had vitamin C from oranges in week 2 and vitamin D tablets. the vitamin C was probably depleted by me drinking water and - less than 15 minutes later - needing to urinate in addition to the electrolytes
i didnt put table salt in the drink with isopropyl alcohol because i didnt want to - even though i was drinking water - cause dehydration in whichever form and whether its visible to me or not. i live alone
the obvious fix for this would be more money to have a better diet (with all of the nutrients my body needs, including sugar)
i neglected to mention that i was drinking weekly but now i am not (and havent had a drink in a few weeks) because i am trying to save money and it is too expensive to drink alcohol. but im not an alcoholic

I taught an introduction to computers class that any non-technical major could use to satisfy their core requirement for a tech class. The first couple of classes was an endless parade of frat boys telling me they had ADHD and their university approved accommodation was that they could turn in their assignments late and miss classes as much as they wanted. No idea if they were taking meds but since they went through the trouble of having their ADHD certified by the university, they probably had a doctor giving them whatever drugs they wanted.

Anyways, what the fuck was that about? All I got was a
>Yep you will never hear right again

Treatment concluded. What the fuck was taht about? I don't expect the doctor to pull a wonder cure out of his ass, but come on. This shit is unbelievable. Especially becuase they wasted my time and energy with that hearing test , which was utterly pointless when the diagnosis neither tells you anything useful and if ther are no treatments available to respond to what was found.

If physicians and other healthcare workers bent over without a fight for every retarded viral tiktok idea that patients bring in, there's no point to all the years of school and training. I got 2 out of 4 anti-vaxxer parents I encountered in my peds rotation to change their minds by sitting down and talking with them. If they clamp down and refuse to communicate, the best I can do is give them the reading materials. But most people are willing to have a conversation and have their minds changed, and many people do not understand what a vaccine actually is or its benefits and risks. Determining capacity is the most basic task of a physician, and patients should only be allowed to make informed refusal - the same way they are only allowed to make an informed consent.

Cocercion, or forcing a view on someone in medicine is unethical. Patients and family need to make an informed decision, not a pressured decision (i.e. through propaganda techniques). For example, saying that the covid vaccine 100% protects you (literal claim) is a lie. That it 100% prevents transmission is also a lie (the virus can transmit by being on your skin, clothes, or other things). All of this vaccine stuff, since it came out, sounded like pop-science. There was no pros and cons. I've only ever heard pro after pro after pro. This alone made me skeptical. But, then, all of the pop-science changed and that 100% effectiveness slowly dropped to wherever it stayed (iirc 60% effective?).

Informed decision, yes, but that means informing them, not standing back and allowing them to be misled by fearmongering clickbait social media posts. I agree that doctors should not attempt to coerce anyone, obviously, but they should give their patients all the facts and attempt to influence them to make the clinically optimal decision.

Which incentivizes them to all cover for each other. Didn't you read the NYT story a few weeks ago about how all those important conspired to publish a paper together in Nature and lie about COVID not being a lab leak? Massive conspiracies in medicine to conceal the truth are both plausible and normalized.

Similar graphs. Also, the "polio" spike in the 40s and 50s corresponds with DDT use. Neurological symptoms from the pesticide were being misdiagnosed as polio. That's why all the other fecal-oral diseases that get passed around in unsanitary conditions did NOT see a corresponding spike in the same time period, which you would expect to see if the conditions that spread polio were back. Epidemiology 101.
The conditions that allow fecal-oral diseases to flourish, namely crowded living conditions and a dirty water supply, were everywhere in turn of the century America. Industrialization led to rapid urbanization led to overcrowded and dirty cities. Communicable disease skyrocketed. Slowly, over the first half of the 20th century, public water sanitation was introduced to more and more municipalities, gradually but steadily reducing communicable disease. Mass vaccination programs came out in the 50s and 60s, after 90% reductions across the board. American History 101.

Life, the world, existing here: it's all fleeting, corrupt, and strongly homosexual. Buy an axe, go deep innawoods, and chop a random tree down. Go build a fire while you chop through the night. Shout racial slurs, piss against the wind, dig a hole and sit in it, then fill it in with rocks. Sit in the twilight-sunrise while drinking some ground chilled beer and smoking a dirty cigarette. Write poetry about the first girl you fucked.
TL;DR we are not made for the system. We are meant to enjoy life. It's supposed to be a gift. Not a hippy btw

All this nonsense hinges on the idea that the polio situation got better on its own after 1952. It didn't. 1952 was a particularly bad year, and 1953 was better, but then it got worse again in 1954. It only got consistently better after 1955.
