๐Ÿงต wtf just happened to my oven?

Anonymous No. 16631029

I didn't know what other board to ask on. I was heating it up to bake at 350. Part of the heating coil started a small fire inside which I noticed but wasn't too worried about because it's pretty normal for any small debris on the coil to sometimes catch fire and then burn out.

But it started making electrical noises in the spot the flame was and then started burning bright white like an electric flame. A few seconds later sparks flew out from the settings panel and the entire oven died. What the hell just happened.

The heat element burned and was cut in the process. No more electric flow. Buy new.america is build on cheap things constantly needing replacement.

can it be saved or do I need a new oven? I don't want a fuse replaced only for this shit to happen again. Electrical fire happened in circled area. honestly I don't ever want to plug it in again regardless

You need to replace the circled element. Not the whole oven. Unplug the oven before servicing. If it does not have a plug let a repair man repair it.

P.s. clean your oven every now and then.

It may be able to be saved but you can probably get a new standard oven like that for the cost it would take to have it repaired so I'm not sure if it's worth it. You could buy a new lower heating element, comes out at 20 bucks in amazon and see if it works if you just plug and chug it in. If it doesn't then there's greater damage if it does then you may be good to go after a good cleaning

You probably had too much oil on the heating element and it overheated. Try changing the heating element, but be careful. Is the oven still works fine? If you saw electrical sparks, it might damaged some cables, so you better test it very carefully after change
